The London Orthotic Consultancy (LOC) runs a dual clinic at the Chris Moody Centre – a general Orthotic clinic, treating upper/lower limb conditions and a clinic treating Positional Plagiocephaly.
LOC was founded by four clinicians who originally worked with the NHS running an Orthotic department in a London hospital. Since its formation in 2004 LOC has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its bespoke orthotics. LOC manufactures the majority of the Orthotics it fits with turn round times typically of two weeks from the initial assessment to fitting.
Orthotics is a specialist medical discipline which utilises external orthoses or braces/supports that are designed and fitted to an individual to correct a physical deformity, reduce pain and improve mobility.
LOC prides itself on the quality of our initial clinical assessment because of the time we spend with each patient and the advanced diagnostic equipment we use. We will analyse range of movement, muscle powers and assess tone and spasticity. We will also look at sensation, proprioception and posture/alignment.

Positional Plagiocephaly, also known as ‘Flat head Syndrome’ is a condition characterised by a flattening on one side of the back of a baby’s head. It may also involve bulging of the forehead, fullness of the cheek and ear misalignment. Repositioning and ‘tummy time’ can result in natural correction of the condition.
If there is no noticeable improvement, helmet remoulding therapy is a treatment option and. LOC has more than a decade of experience using this therapy. Treatment is most effective in babies aged between 4-7 months.
For parents who are concerned about the shape of their baby’s head, LOC offers a FREE no obligation initial consultation during which your baby’s head will be measured and treatment options discussed.
